About ShenayThis work isn’t just what I do. It’s personal.
Hi, I’m Shenay.
I came to this work the way many in this field do, through my own journey.
Growing up, I was always the “sensitive” one. The one who felt everything deeply, who could walk into a room and immediately sense what was unspoken. For a long time, that felt like a burden. Now, I know it's my greatest gift.
My own experiences have shaped not just who I am, but how I show up for every single client that I work with. I understand what it means to carry something heavy for a long time, and the relief you feel when you take the time to work through the tough stuff.
That's why I do this work, because I know freedom comes only when you give yourself permission to put it down.
My story
My approachHealing happens in the body, not just the mind.
One of the things I notice most in my clients, and something I know from my own experience, is how hard it can be to get out of your head. We analyze, we rationalize, we think our way around pain, but trauma doesn't just live in our thoughts, it lives in our bodies.
That's why my approach is rooted in somatic and body-based healing. Instead of just talking about what happened, we work with what your body is holding, gently and at your pace. This is where real, lasting change begins.
I believe therapy should feel like a collaboration. You are the expert on your own life. I'm here to help you access the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be heard.
Values & Identity
I believe clients feel “safer” and do deeper work when they know who their therapist is, so let me be transparent about who I am and what I stand for.
I’m a Black American, cis gender, heterosexual woman whose personal experience with trauma shapes how I show up in every session. I bring my full self into this work, not just my clinical training.
Heal Good is a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive space. I actively work to create an environment where Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized communities feel genuinely seen and supported.
You’ll also be a good fit here if you simply believe in the dignity and humanity of all people. That’s the baseline, and it’s non-negotiable.
